CPU not using full overclock power

Jewfishy
Go to solution Solved by s3ns3,

Well, I have me a refund to get

yep

So I've been overclocking my CPU today (i5 3570K) and got it to a stable clock of 4.2 Ghz. However, when I run stress tests it will not use more than 4000mhz, even though it says I have 4200mhz to use in the bios. As well as CPU-Z saying I have a max multiplier of 42. I have had no BSOD errors or crashes, it just won't use anymore power than 4000mhz. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

since its not a K cpu,i think only with boost will go to 4200. and thats for a single core

thats why you only have 42x,you can overclock non K cpus just 4 bins above turbo.

It is a K

no its not. hence your cpu-z SS and only 42x in bios. 3.8 turbo + 4 bins = 4.2  . or 4000mhz on all cores

To add one more thing, if it was unlocked in cpu-z it would have a k after 3570, as you can see there is not one. It should read 3570k, if it was that unlocked.
