Awesome, go for it :)

Just promise me you pull that 5400rpm drive out of there and throw it far far away and get an SSD instead.

please don't do that. throw it out, but replace it with a 7200rpm HDD. a 1TB SSD will cost you a fortune.

It has dual bays. I wouldn't suggest throwing the HDD out...

Thanks you guys! The guy was messing around and kept upping the price on me. However, I found another one with a slightly lower GPU and an SSD and more RAM for $650.

What do you think about this one?

not a great gpu and a little less space (you could have an external HDD though). what about the OS and monitor?

Thanks for the response!

This is a laptop. I have an OS and all of the peripherals. That i7 3610qm is not a good processor?

lol...oops. I thought you said that it was not a great CPU, but you said GPU. Well, I don't plan on playing any new games on there, I just need it for work - graphic design and web development. I also want it to be able to play and stream high quality media files (1080p) on the TVs that are in the network.

That should be good, right?

that's fine then. Most of the people around here want gaming stuff so I just assumed. But for 2D graphics the GPU doesn't matter a whole lot.

Thanks for the reply!

Yeah, I wouldn't mind, but gaming is certainly not at the top of my list. I have a rig at home for that and, if I did have a gaming laptop, sure it would be good for what I do but I would never get any work done lol.

By the way, do I really need a dedicated GPU for my needs? I mean, will I get by on an HD 4600? I know I need a quad core, but I am not sure about the graphics.

depends on how advanced your work is. Filters and anything 3D in photoshop will be slower. A dedicated card like the 650 shouldn't be more than @50 extra and will give you a lot more flexibility. Look at this: http://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Adobe-Photoshop-CS6-GPU-Acceleration-161/

Thank you for the responses.

Let me ask you guys this:

Okay, so I think I have a pretty good deal on the Asus ROG i7 3610qm/16 GBS/256 SSD/660m, for $650. I think that this laptop will do everything that I need it to do. If anyone thinks that it cannot, please let me know.

Looking on Newegg, there are newer versions of the Asus ROG that include the Haswell i7/12 GB RAM/750 7200 HDD/840m, that can roughly cost $900.

I am considering a new laptop because of the warranty and longevity. However, and correct me if I am wrong, the used Asus ROG actually has pretty good specs and I think may even be faster in the applications department because of the SSD and RAM.

Is it worth it to get the new laptop or just stick with the used one? Is the Haswell CPU that much better to have than the Ivy Bridge? Will there be that much of a difference between the 660m and the 840m? I mean, I know that the 840m is a newer card and will play games better, but I will not be doing much gaming, if at all. Finally, do you think that the used laptop will stay "relevant" for what I need it to do for years to come? Again, I know that we cannot predict the future of Adobe CC or anything, just trying to get some input.

Thank you very much for your help!
