Best Looking smart watch around!

PCBjon

Ok I know its only a concept art for the moment but if this watch gets made I might be tempted to buy one also it doesnt look like a toy compared to the rest of the smart watches

"Please note, the photos and video are intended for visualization purposes only. Actual production model may vary in size and design details. The transparent display is 40% to 60% transparent depending on the type of display you choose (TOLED Dot Matrix vs. TOLED ICON). In contrast, the video shows a 100% transparent state during off mode. This was done to show the design of the watch."

Shame but it does look REALLY nice i like the dual design, I way prefer watches being watches, but if it had a usable smart feature then amazing

That is the first watch I have seen that I would genuinly buy, not even that expensive between $500 for metal and $1200 for gold . It has to feel premium though

I hope the mechanical power of this watch will power the OLED screen that would be amazing charging a watch every day or few days is just ridiculous.

even mechanical watches are powered by batteries...so the battery would also power the screen, it mentions it comes with a usb cable that attatches magnetically

I imagine you will get at least a day, hopefully more, dpeends how power hungry it is

Looks fkn epic. That orange one looks crap but the other look sick.

In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only a GTX 1080, just a single 1080, where my glorious PC once stood....

For that is all I need, For the Emperor of Man, Jen-Hsun Huang, protects. We march for Nvidia, and we shall know no fear!

@PCBjon @ShadowCaptain

Their website says 5-8 days battery life, it's probably less than that but if you can use it for a least 2-3 days it's already pretty good for me.

yeah I would be happy with  2/3 days heavy use, 5 days with light use, a week with no screen use

If they could make it solar powered like the Citizen Eco Drives, surely that would work?

No way it could power an oled display, bluetooth/wifi, and other chips

I dont think so anyway, perhaps kinetic power + solar + battery? but I think it would end up too thick

Someone posted these a while back, I recall seeing the price and thinking "I could build another computer for that price".

Also I can't quiet love a company that calls itself "epic" :)

Looks great though. As in luxury watch great. It's a pretty different market than what I think the Moto 360 will be aimed at.

Looks pretty cool, and if it really does work then I may in future consider buying something like this, although for me it would be prohibitively expensive (cheapest has an MSRP of $1200). The "early bird" special offer is better than half price, which makes you wonder what they're doing to give that discount. I am looking forward to seeing if this ends up being a good product though, because if it is then we might see a future with smart watches that look great and last longer than the current generation on battery (if the screen is normally off then it will last a while).

i thought of some silly concepts of mechanical watches with transparent displays before but thought it wouldn't be any good cause the thickness would be too much

if somebody managed to make the tech and batteries really thin then it would be worth it

An automatic mechanical watch is not powered by batteries. I think this is actually a great idea if they could pull it off. This would be the only smart watch that is still a watch when the batteries die.

Really really cool. Due to all the features, (mechanical movement with 25(!) jewels, electronics, stainless steel case, transparent touchscreen display), I can bet this will cost in the three or four digit range.

EDIT: Heh, I did some quick looking around on Kairos' website. Turns out, the watch is NOT a concept, in fact you can preorder one. Preorder prices are cheaper, ranging from $499 - $1199, with the original prices of the watches being $1199 - $2149.

Yeah not too expensive considering, i hope it looks as good as the concept

Yeah i understand that some watches are powered by winding, or some are powered by kinetic movement. But they are barely enough power to run the watch hands let alone wifi/bluetooth/screen etc, they could help towards, or perhaps the watch part will be powered this way so it doenst drain the battery for the OLED, i highly doubt there would be anywhere close to the power to run the smart aspects.

If they could use two power points mechanical for the actual watch and solar or kinetic for the smart section of the watch, but it will bare down to how thick the watch will become but that wouldn't bother some people since certain watches are almost 20mm in thickness.
