maxtor noise?

i hate an 80gb maxtor diamondmax 10 and every now and then it will beep and click twice but it works fine and the smart is reporting no errors why is it doing this?

Is this a mechanical hard drive? Clicking usually means imminent death, so start backing up. I'm not sure exactly which part of the drive is doing the clicking but it's bad nonetheless.
