  1. Thanks for yet another giveaway! My favorite item here is the Pulse headset. It would be great to get the chance to try them out!
  2. It's a top of the line graphics card, whats not to like? Custom PCB and a beefy heatsink will make for an excellent gaming experience.
  3. This phone looks amazing! I really hope i get the chance to get my hands on one! I actually really like the look of the LG skin. Looks nice!
  4. "Gamer" is not an exclusive club that you must earn admission in to by completing various computer game-related task. If you call yourself a gamer, chances are, you're a gamer
  5. 1. I currently have 3 500gb segate drives in raid0 with a 120gb samsung boot drive. All of the raid 0 drives were purchased over a wide margin of time as I could afford to add storage. It is truly an horrific storage solution, and I dread the day that one of them dies. 2. Facebook share from Jason Sheets: https://www.facebook.com/jay.steez.98/posts/598511016865684 3. 7. Joke for C++ string me = "ready"; do {me;} while (me == "ready"); The best part? It's an infinite loop B)
  8. I plan on using a wireless router in place of a USB wireless network adapter so my PC may connect to my home wireless network more better. I am living in an apartment right now, so there is a lot of interference to deal with. I am hoping that using a router as a network adapter might net me better overall performance than the USB adapter I am currently using. I dont see any reason why this plan shouldnt work, but I figured I might as well ask around before I start investing time and effort into a project that might not be worth it. CURRENT ROUTER: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833122275 CURRENT ADAPTER: NETGEAR WG111 V3 WIFI 54MBPS B/G WIRELESS USB ADAPTER QUESTIONS: Can I expect a performance boost by replacing my cheap-o adapter with a cheap-o (20-30 USD) router? Will mismatching router brands be compatible (Both routers being Wireless N)? I WOULD use an ethernet cable to make the best connection possible, but I am living an apartment, and my landlord will not allow me to route ethernet cables through my walls. <_< Thank you so much in advance for the input!!
  9. Interesting...I was able to pick up a few books about writing a 3D game engine last week. It seems to me that building a game with a pre-existing engine before starting work on a custom engine of my own might be the best place to start. Im thinkin maybe a 2D/3D game (like don't starve) might be where I would like to start. I will keep this thread updated on any progress that I make THIS IS DON'T STARVE:
  10. Greetings, What I am looking for here is a bit of guidence. I consider myself to be a fairly compitent C++ programmer (About 2 years of acamidemic coursework), who is looking for resourses (books/websites) to help me work out the finer details of graphic design (MAYA or similar) so that, hopefully, I can make a 3D game for the PC! My end goal is to create a throwback to one of my old favourite games, StarFox 64! This will need to be complete with 3D graphics, hit detection, and potentially multiplayer mode?? I am 100% new to the concept of game development. All I know right now is C++. I have heard that DirectX or OPENGL are two things that I might want to look at. Any and all advice is hugely appreciated! I will be heading to Barnes & Noble later today to see what books I can find. I will be updating this thread with my progress!! Jason
  11. SpeedTest.net is good for finding the data transmission rate between your computer, and a particular remote server selected by speedtest.net. This is great for getting a general idea of how fast your computer could potentially communicate across the internet, but does not reflect any real "internet speed". Think of it this way, internet traffic is alot like regular street traffic. You can always make an estimate for how long it might take to travel from one place to another, but the actual time it takes to make any given trip is always changing with increasing internet traffic. On top of that, not all of the (probably millions of) servers/routers/switches making up the internet are created equal. When a connection to one server could be great, your connection to another, equidistant server could be crap. There is nothing wrong with using SpeedTest.net to find your "internet connection speed", however using tracert/ping commands in windows terminal would probably provide a better indication of actual "internet speed", since you can specify the URL of a relevant website/webapp that you actually use on a regular basis. Besides, I doubt you really care how quickly you can connect to some arbitrary SpeedTest.net server.
