Hello everyone,

I am new to the forums so apologies if this isn't the right spot for it. I am in the market for a laptop with gtx 1060 graphics. I have narrowed it down to these 2 options.

ASUS FX503VM-NS52: https://www.mobileadvance.com/asus-fx503vm-ns52-15-6-gaming-laptop-gtx-1060-3gb-vram-i5-7300hq-8-gb-memory-128-gb-m-2-ssd-1-tb-hdd-120-hz-windows-10-home-vr-ready/

HP PAVILION: https://www.walmart.com/ip/HP-Pavilion-Gaming-Laptop-15-6-Full-HD-Intel-Core-i7-8750-NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-1060-3GB-1TB-HDD-16GB-Optane-memory-8GB-SDRAM-Windows-10-Black-15-CX0077/307347907

Both of them have the 3GB variation of GTX 1060, the asus one has a 120 hz screen but comes with an i5 7300 hq whereas the HP comes with an I7-8750. Do you think the gtx 1060 can utilize the 120 hz screen on the ASUS model with the i5 or is it worth getting the HP with the I7. The HP laptop doesn't have an SSD but I don't mind that as I can buy a m.2 ssd for cheap.

Thanks for the help.

Neither are really ideal, I would see if you could get an 8th gen i5/i7, an 120/144hz screen and a 6GB 1060 (they have more cores as well as VRAM). The i5 7300HQ is far too under-powered and that current HP has a 60hz screen ?

Wish I could, but that drives the price up a lot. I’m in the 800$ region, you know

Put specs aside, neither are good models

Where are you from? Budget? Usage? Any preference on weight and battery life? Any other requirements?

From the U.S. Ideally, I would like one that doesn’t look super gamer-y. Like a Razer Blade but with a dbrand skin that would hide the logo. No preference on battery life but I like lightweight (or small looking). If you have any preferences I would really appreciate it.

800 +-150$, I am an international student so I need something that I can travel with me easily. I have a desktop with a 1080 and i5-6600k so not gonna be a power user on this laptop. I prefer to not take my desktop with me for breaks and I also need something I can take with me on classes too without looking super gamer, ideally.

My bad, when I mean lightweight I guess I mean more like compact looking rather than actual mass.

Noted, however you need to provide a range on weight also
