What's this pin?

 Share

So, I just found this pin lying under my motherboard and I have no idea where it might come from. It's longer than the internal USB 2.0 and front panel I/O -type pins and shorter than the fan header pins. It doesn't seem to be crucial to the PC because everything is working just fine with no errors. Do you have any idea where it might come from?

It's a socket(female part), my guess is that it's from a pci-e port. You see any missing pins on a pci-e port?

But if everything is working fine, it's probably ok.

That's what I thought too, but I saw no missing pins/pads/whatever in my PCI-E slots and my GPU is still recognized with a x16 connection. It's also too small for a PCI-E and it isn't from the DIMM-slots either.

By the looks of it, it probably wasn't soldered. I think it is maybe a connector you plug into the MB that went loose, e.g. front panel USB.

No, those use crimped pins
