Well I didnt play it either. I start gaming on a Commodore PC when I was a child in something like 97-98. Games like Prehistorik 1,2, Tetris, Lemmings (Which I didn´t understand at all ) etc. But the biggest boom of games like Fallout 1,2 and Half-Life 1 I missed. Maybe because nobody had them at the time, and because newer computers we´re really expensive in my country. So what can you do But I still respect old games and people who play them.

My assumption is we won't hear anything until E3 (possibly as early as this year for announcement).

 

But Bethesda is known to publicly announce their games about a year before release (so if announced E3 this year, expect Fall 2015 at the earliest unfortunately). Fallout 3 and New Vegas were both teased then shown during E3.

It's done when it's done. All signs point toward them rebuilding the game engine or hopefully building a new one from scratch. This can bring a lot of nice new features and graphical detail, but it all needs polish. If the end-product is rushed to the market it can lead to a sub par experience by making it less immersive due to bugs that cause visual imperfections, stupid AI behavior, glitches and crashes. Though some maybe funny on the whole it detracts from the gaming experience. And we don't want that, do we?

The guy who played threedog has tweeted two times concerning the game. 

 

It is infact in development, it will be set in boston ( recent rumors confirm this ) and bethesda has outright stated they are actively in development of an open world game. It's fallout 4!!!!

 

Recent rumors confirm this...? A rumor can't confirm anything...  ._. anyways Due to press releases videos ETC one might say that it wont be out for a few years, but Skyrim wasn't officialy announced til several months prior, unlike most games being announced 2-3 years early, id bet money that we see at the very least gameplay previews before 2015 (Sorry im tired so this is sloppy)
