Hello Guys,

So this was meant to be my first ever PC rig and intro to PC world but I messed up as I kept waiting for 1080ti ftw 3 to drop in price and in doing so they are no longer being imported into my country and unable to source one. The 2080's are not worth my investment imo (price to performance). So now I am left with the following build which I am trying to suss out to play games at high or ultra, 60fps all the time, be able to stream & record at 1080p 60fps while gaming. Will be upgrading to dual screen when I get more funds. What I am asking is if I can get any recommendations on inputs if this rig would be able to do what I require it to do until better gpus come out (price to performance).

I also need some other advice regarding monitor. Do I go IPS or TN, 60hz or 144hz, 1ms or 5ms. I will be gaming at 1080 60fps all of the time. I noticed that IPS monitors dont quite get 1m/s without going up in price by huge amounts and on other side you have TN monitors that get 1ms but are not as great? I will be aiming to have a dual monitor setup, so something to keep in mind I guess? I know ms is not a huge factor compared to hz but I don't know much as this is my first gig.

Also would I need anti aliasing ? it smooths out pixels but not sure If I would need to or be able to have it on?

*Note: I think I will be able to buy a 1070ti from Newegg for $800

What Games I want to Play & Stream @ 1080p 60 fps ultra or high w/aa:

  • h1z1
  • Pubg
  • CS:Go
  • GTA:V

What else I require:

  • Monitor
  • Keyboard
  • Capture Software or product advice for streaming and recording for twitch/youtube

Budget is $3500NZD

Oh wait HA, different currency, nvm lmao but are there no other 1080tis available in your country because a 2700x is overkill for a 1060

According to PCPP, not really... But the 2700(x) would help for CPU encoding since they want to stream while gaming.

Well there's a huge waste of money.

Really about $350-$450 cheaper since your original parts list didn't have a price for the AsRock Taichi motherboard which I'm guessing would have been about $300 NZD?

Correct x370 was arround $300-$350NZD & you are right the 1TB is a waste if I buy the 500GB SSD.

Nope & if on the slight chance there is they are shitty versions that tend to have high temps.

Check the used market on eBay and Gumtree (If you guys have that across the ditch?). See if you can find a used 1080ti or even a 1070ti or 1080 for less than retail... Though, such a powerful GPU is not needed if you're playing at 1080p. You'll be fine with a 1060 6GB or RX 580 8GB card which will handle most games high settings at 1080p 60fps just fine.

What about streaming or recording simultaneously? and recording 1080p/60?

You can use Software x264 encoding for streaming & recording which uses the CPU.

For software use OBS for streaming/recording.

Cheers for that, would that diminish or hurt my cpu in any way compared to using gpu?

It'll use CPU resources for the encoding, so depending on what quality setting you use, it will put more of a load on to the CPU. "Very fast" should give good enough quality and won't have much of an impact on your CPU performance in games, especially since you're using the 8 core Ryzen 2700 CPU. The extra cores/threads help with encoding (streaming).
