I need new CPU (probably)

Hello there, I want to play games like Battlefront II and Anthem but my CPU is pretty outdated. I have Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz, GeForce GTX 1060 3GB and 8GB of RAM. I'm also using two monitors, one for playing and an old one for other stuff. The first monitor is 1080p at 60Hz but it would be nice to have an option for a future upgrade to a 144Hz one. What should I change here to make those games run better?

Edit: My socket is 1155 but I'm thinking about buying a new motherboard

This is still a decent CPU for gaming but if you do want a little more power look on Ebay for used i7 2600's or 3770's.

My budget is about 270 USD, but it's converted from my local currency so it may be different. For example here in Poland new core i7 6700 4GHz is about 350USD

Not really, I'm not an experienced pc builder in any way. I just know something about Intel and almost nothing about AMD so it would be easier for me to have one from Intel

Why?

As I said you could always buy an older Xeon, or a 2600K/2700K/3770K

Masz o 4 wątki więcej do dyspozycji. Np. w CSGO powinieneś zobaczyć duży skok bo CS polega głównie na procku.

Almost nothing about what? Those are CPUs, the installation is exactly the same. Of course in case you have a question we can help any time

Yes. If you do go that route get 16GB of RAM too.

I roughly know the difference between i3, i5, and i7 but what do the numbers afterward mean? The higher the number the better?

I've checked and for both of those games, the recommended CPU is i7 6700K. Would it perform well in other scenarios?
