HDD wont format

Hi.

I got a broken HDD for free from a friend and plugged it in. It spun up and was recognized by windows. But when I went to format it, windows was unable to format it successfully. What should I do now?

You got it broken, for free. Anything you put on it may be ridiculously slow or constantly corrupted. What could you possibly gain from that in your setup?

Unless it was an SSD and you power flashed it (if that is what it is called) it will be too much of a hassle or not worth it to work on.
