What should I watch my videos on?

Guest

I have a pretty limited setup. [I was just kidding about the banger setup on the "Show off" thread] I basically have a Dell Chromebook 11 and an iPad 2. My internet is really just 3.5 Mbit on a good day so I usually just watch videos in 720p and streams in 480p. The iPad has the advantage of great color, even for a device 7 years old. But it can't even display the entire video because the resolution isn't a full 720p. Just to free some misunderstandings, if you were to go and look up the resolution, it's 768 by 1024. The problem is that since it has a 4:3 aspect ratio then there are black bars on the top and bottom of a normal 16:9 video. I also wish I could watch Twitch more. I might get a new iPad pretty soon and that'll be the main thing, but the processors are so bad in devices that old that it can't even handle a live stream. Sometimes youtube crashes. Anyways you can just give me the advice. I do care about color quality and resolution, and software bezels.

Really, it's down to personal preference!

Do you want the mobility of an iPad or the enhanced quality of your Chromebook?

Compromises will have to be made for a solid answer to be made and the only person who can make it will be you, good sir!

100x30p... by far the absolute best resolution... with the video being crammed into 300 pixels.. what could go wrong?

/s

in all actuality if it is something like a LTT or a video where the sides are not always necessary, watch it in as much res as you want.. but if watching something like fitz where words pop up on the sides, watch in a lower res to see all of the screen so you do not miss the words

added /s so people know i am not serious about that part

does not matter. it's all up to you.

there's nothing wrong with 4:3 as long as the blacks are deep

Then choose a device with best screen performance. Personally, I'm not troubled by black bars. So it's up to you.

My setup:

i7-7700 CPU @ 3.60GHz
