TVs brightness

What's up with TVs not listing their brightness in spec sheets and manuals? That seems like a pretty big thing to not list. Same story for either 300€ TVs or 2k€ ones.

How does one pick a a good TV from an e-shop if crucial info like that is missing? 

Laptop: Acer V3-772G  CPU: i5 4200M GPU: GT 750M SSD: Crucial MX100 256GB
Desktop: CPU: R7 1700x GPU: RTX 2080 SSD: Samsung 860 Evo 1TB

By looking up ratings and reviews on a reliable site like rtings and ignoring manufacturer specifications as they can be wildly misleading even when they do exist.

That's not really helpful when it's not widely reviewed device. Especially relevant for cheaper models and ones which doesn't even appear on US market. 
Which is pretty much what I'm dealing with now.
