Another looking for headphone thread.

Well, my headphones just died. Tried repairing them, should've been an easy repair, just one of the cables inside the left cup no longer making proper contact... I massively fucked up, ripped the tiny PCB that was connecting the broken wire to the left speaker and now it's essentially dead with only the right side working. (Superlux HD-660, which I quite liked, voiced were clear and bass wasn't too overpowering...)

So now I'm stuck looking for new headphones, here's what I'm basically looking for:
- Preferably cheap, like about sub $100 CANADIAN RUPEES.(give or take $20)
- Vocals to be clear and audible over bass. I don't listen to music much. Really don't care for loud bass. I just want to be able to hear characters in shows I watch, speaking.

- Closed back. How else would I listen to porn without anyone finding out about it...?

- No microphones. I want HEADPHONES, not a HEADSET. Especially at that price point, I'd be getting junk on both side.

So far I've Googled, checked a bunch of "budget studio headphones list" and retained like, 3 pair... But honestly I'm lost here, I have no idea if they are even good or not.

Audio Technica ATH M30x

Status Audio CB-1

JVC HARX900

Slightly more expensive... and probably much more worth it, but they are outside my range at the moment. Would it be worth waiting until black friday to see if one of them goes on sale?

Sony-MDRV6

Sony-MDR7506

Audio Technica ATH M40X

A little help on this would be appreciated.

You might be able to find a pair of M50x's on sale soon for black friday/cyber monday.

They're basically what you want. No overpowering bass, good balance between low and high

Considering they are currently going for $200 CAD, I somehow doubt they will go down to my ideal price point...
When is black friday again? in like 2 weeks?

I got mine around 125 cad about a year ago, If you keep a sharp eye I'm sure you'll find some.

If not, the M40x's are fine, just not as comfortable imo

Well, I guess I'll wait a bit longer... You got them on Amazon or some other website?

Alright, couldn't wait until Black Friday. Using my phone's IEM is highly uncomfortable after an hour, I needed actual headphones...

So I went to the Dollarstore. ?

Bought a pair of these:

Electra-Vortex-Stereo-Headphones

for a whole $4 CAD.

They sound so, so incredibly... bad. Just bad. So bad. I had to play with the volume EQ to get something somewhat listenable, even enabled every other "enhancement",-3dB room correction, Theater environment...

It feels like I'm listening to a bass heavy IEM, through a tin can. Had to crank up the 3K and 6K to get somewhat "decent" (audible) vocals over everything else.

Black Friday cannot come soon enough, *shudder*.

I had the JVC-HARX900 for about 8 years and they worked well for me.  Conformable and durable although they really do benefit from an amp.  You can mod them to make the highs sound better.

Good to know, thank you.
I've bookmarked all of them and now just waiting for a sale to happen... If there's still nothing by the end of the month, I'll probably get the JVC since there are probably the best I can get in my price range...
