Random black screens (ASUS ROG STRIX X470-F)

DualityV2

Hello,  been having some issues lately with my newer ryzen system... GFX and PSU are recycled from my old 4770K build and it had 0 issues...

1.

It first started with rare blackscreens, both monitors sporadically goes out and says no signal.

LED status om mobo reports a GFX issue, turning off, reset and so on has no effect, it wont boot up again till i short the CMOS pins, this has happened 3 times 1-2months appart, 2 times while playing WOW and other when just surfing the net.

Ases support had no answers to this issue as it happened so rarely

2.

Suddenly the blackscreen issues seems to happen daily however i can get it running without shorting the pins, disconnect powercord for a few minutes and it boots right up as if nothing happened.

these blackout issues allmost sound like the early problem with the Asus sensor software, however the problem persists after a full reinstall altho at a lesser rate(and no AI software installed)

3.

The motherboard also has an issue with the newest audiodriver, the old one works fine.

when i install the new driver, at the end it asks to reboot to finish the installation, however this box continues to appear randomly, within a few days.

alot of times theres a reference to a crash dump in the windows clipboard, noticed this while trying to copypaste text.

problem went away when i uninstalled the driver, uses support has no answers other then they havent had any other reports with faulty drivers

currently have the soundcard disabled since am now running with a usb soundcard.

i have also tried running various stress test, cinebench, 3D mark, Unity and so on but cant seem to trigger the lockup... so wondering if anyone else was experiencing the same problems on this MOBO or should i just try and RMA it?
dont have a spare parts to test further so kinda stuck.

Try removing and reseating the GPU, or putting it in a different slot. See if that makes any difference.

second slot, happened again tho this time 3-5secs after entering the bios.

hard to see if its a full lockup since theres no HDD activity here, will let it run for a few :P

ya same problem, also just noticed that it refused to turn off the RGB Lights... shorted the pins to reset and now the on/off in bios works.

pc seems to have survived over night, guessing something went wrong with the bios/firmware again... the reset to default within the bios did not work but shorting the cmos pins did.

I am getting the same issue.  Built the system around Thanksgiving.  Have swapped out almost every component save the case.  I will list my system components below.  There was a new BIOS release 12/7 or 12/9 I updated to it but got another lockup today.

System componenets:
Corsair Obsidian 700D
AMD Ryzen 5 2600
ASUS ROG Strix X470-F Gaming (Latest BIOS 12/07/2018)
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (1x16GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz C15
EVGA Supernova 850 G3, 80 Plus Gold 850W
(2) EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gaming, 4GB GDDR5
CORSAIR HYDRO Series H115i PRO RGB AIO Liquid CPU Cooler

OS:  Windows 10 Pro

Drives
Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250GB - boot
Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB - game storage mostly
WDC ED30EZRZ-00GXC80 - mass storage
ST1000DM003-9YN162 - archival storage - stuff I am moving to my server soon
HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH24NSB0 - DVD drive

Another person seeing the same issue, machine spec is:

ASUS ROG Strix X470-F

ASUS Cerberus GeForce 1050TI 4GB
Samsung 970 evo 500GB SSD
Western Digital Gold 4 TB HD
AMD Ryzen 7 2700X
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4 2666
Corsair HX850i 850W PSU
Corsair CC-9011117-WW Carbide Series Case

Latest drivers on everything seem to have made it better so I'm guessing at a driver problem, shout if you find any solutions.

Oh I did try flashing the CMOS and leaving it on all night, but black screen again this morning so that hasn't fixed it.

Right what has fixed it for me is removing ASUS AISuite and Corsair iCUE.  It would appear there is a BIOS bug that locks the machine if multiple programs access sensor data at the same time.
