Hey I have a netgear router and my room is far away from where my family keeps the router and the modem (prob like 50 to 60 feet) and my wireless connection just hasnt been doing my gaming justice. is there any way i can connect my router from out there to here by wire to eliminate wireless connection...thanks

That was probably an opinion

plug one in to a power socket near the router and run an ethernet cable to it then plug the other in to a power socket some where in your room and then run an ethernet cable from it to your computer.  It uses the power lines in your house to communicate so you don't have to run new cables.  You can also get some that will extend the wifi connection and they are called powerline range extenders.

will this compete with a wired connection like will i get a strong and fast connection?

It is not quite as fast as Gigabit Ethernet, roughly half the speed but it is much better than a wireless connection.

also could i wire it someway like with a long ethernet cable? if so how would I go about doing this

Yes I believe there are some guides on Ethernet but it would look something like going to lowe's or homedepot and buying a box of Cat6 or Cat5e Ethernet wire, wall plates, and Ethernet terminals.  I am not sure about how your house is setup but a common instillation would be to start in the attic above where the router is and feed the cable down the wall to a cutout.  Then take the box over to above your room and measure off a little more than what you think is needed and cut the cable.  Then feed it down to another hole it the wall.  Then it's just a matter of attaching the Ethernet terminals and putting on the wall plate.

Depending on how far the cable will have to go the cost of it alone will be some where between $60 and $120.  Then factor in another $20 $40 for the other hardware.
