So i've just recieved all my components for my build.

Note that this is my first build so i'm using a esd wristwrap.

One problem though is that i don't know where to put the clamp.

I've heard that you need to put it in a non painted metall area.

Correct me if im wrong. Why i'm asking is because my whole chassi is painted.

The HDD cage etc.

Sincerely,

Kristofer

Connect it to any large metal object, the back of your case or a radiator for example. Doesn't matter if it's painted.

Yeah i know, is my wooden desktop ok to build in?

Yup. you can just every so often touch the metal in your case. that's enough to ground you/remove any static,

Store all your parts on the cardboard boxes it came in. NOT on top of the anti-Static bags, they actually trap static and can damage parts.

Trash it. Usually making it worse.

Plug in your PSU, turn it off and touchy touchy. You'll be fine as long as you don't build it on fleece or anything similar.

The best way would be to use it on your ankle and attach it to any large metal object.  If there isn't anything to attach it to, use the ground in your wall outlet.  Don't slide or shuffle your feet or rub against things.

It´s ok to build on wood table. Some tips for you.

1. Try not to touch the golden connectors on RAM, GPU etc.

2. When installing the CPU hold it by edges, don´t touch the top of CPU or clean it with rubbing alcohol before you gonna put termal paste on it.

3. Use motherboard standoffs only for the holes which MOBO has in it. If you put it somewhere where it touches the board itself you can fry it.

4. If you know this already, kudos to you.

5. Don´t be scared, it´s not that fragile :)
