looking for mb + cpu

ice8eight

Hi, I'm looking for a semi-hardcore/semi-high end (is that even a word?) motherboard and cpu for gaming that will last me at least the next 3 years.

I am a casual gamer but I like my games to look pretty and perform well above 60fps.

My old cpu is an i7 4790k

I have an MSI Gtx 1080ti which I plan to keep for a long time. I also have a Gsync monitor 1440p resolution.

Please advice me s mobo + cpu combo that is not over the top but will still give me great fps/performance.

Thank you

Well... a 4790K seems like a pretty good deal. For the low low price of free, it can be yours today.

But seriously, why do you feel the need to upgrade? Just cause you want to? The 4790K is still a great CPU and should last you at the very least a few more years.

Spoiler

Your CPU already is:

I was actually planning of making an rgb rig, the mobo that I have now for my 4790k looks crap and I thought instead of buying an old gen mobo why not just upgrade?

I also checked online some 1150 mobo and most of good ones are either refurbished or priced at $250.

the 4790k is still a great cpu, if you want something with more cores, get a 2700x with a good board depending on your budget
