Windows Update - Error - Code 8000FFFF - Windows 7

Vectraat

Anyone got a step-by-step guide on how to fix this? I've been trying numerous solutions for half the day and nothing has worked.

Do google search for the code. I found some answers not sure if they apply .

As a last resort. Do a backup of all critical data, then do a clean install, after  do  all the updates, before doing anything.

Yeah, that's what I did for half the day. Googled answers, tried out 7-8 different solutions and nothing worked. But I'm thinking there's probably something I missed. And hells no, I don't want to go through the hassle of reinstalling Windows 7. It's not even my machine, I'm just helping someone out.

I see, sorry that I can not be of more help.

Check services:

Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS)

Windows Update

Security Center

Windows Firewall

All of these are required for update to work.

I'll have to check later, It's not my computer. Other Windows Updates work, so I assume these services are all running, It's just this security update that doesn't want to work and it seems other people are experiencing the same issue.
