Alright guys, I'm fairly stumped on this one. I'll try to keep it short but I want you guys to have all the information possible. About 3 months ago I built a new gaming rig, everything went smoothly. The set up I had was a i5 8700k, 8gb of ddr4 ripjaw, ROG Strix z370-E Gaming motherboard, EVGA GTX 970 (second hand), and a corsair h100i v2 cpu cooler. The pc was running fine for months, but I recently moved to a new city and the drive was about 3 hours. After I got all moved in I got on my computer for the first time and when I first got on the pc wasn't running right, but was displaying something. It's hard for me to describe, but there was a sort of texture on the screen and my frames were awful. I played a couple games and then decided to get off because the issue was frustrating me and began to do some troubleshooting thinking it had something to do with my monitor. With no luck, I left my pc for a few hours and then when I went to get back on, no display. just a completely black screen. I was confused as to what was going on and I thought It might be my ram and or the ram slot, so I switched the ram around to the different slots with no luck still. Frustrated and out of money I just left the computer for about a month. I came back to it earlier this week and came to the conclusion that it was my graphics card. How I came to that was I took out my graphics card and turned on the pc so it would default to the onboard graphics. Wallah, I had a display. So after that I knew it was the GPU. So today, I went out and bought a Gigabyte gtx 1070, and when I went to plug it in... same issue. I have a black screen once turned on, I can see the mouse cursor on the screen but nothing else. Also I forgot to mention that everything seemingly powers on fine, all the RGB lights up as well as my peripherals. Needless to say I'm pretty frustrated and out of ideas and money. Does anyone have an idea to what may be going on here?

ok, did you take out the gpu before you moved the pc? otherwise the stress on the motherboard's pci-e slot from the weight of the card could have broken it if you drove over a speedbump or something...

can you try a different pci-e slot on the motherboard?

I didn't take it out, but I actually just thought about that and tried the second pci-e slot and still having the same issue. I just tried again and the onboard graphics are now working.

try to reseat everything. memory, power connectors and stuff... it's possible something was knocked loose when you moved it.
