Audio Glitch (no explanation!)

I've had this odd audio glitch over the past week where my usb DAC will randomly max out the volume while still displaying the volume I have it set at.  I have to quickly turn the knob up or down to get it to reset to where it's supposed to be.  This happen's on headphones or speakers.

 

The really weird part is today it happen's every time I quickly get up from my chair and go to my other desk, each time the volume spikes.  There are no cable's on the ground and no cables that I'm bumping.  I unplugged the headphones but the DAC is still doing it.

 

WTF is going on? any ideas?

 

*edit: it does have a remote but that's in the drawer, anyways the display would change

there might be a bug with your audio drivers. uninstall and re install for a clean and more safe way.

I did my best to recreate it by moving the chair, bumping the desk...... not once could I recreate it.

 

Last night I activated MBAM premium and it found some malware............

Oh, so might have been some malicious software? But how would getting up from the chair trigger that?

They said it did it every time they get up from the chair in a hurry, wouldn't that a lot of the same coincidence?

i'd believe it.

i had some instances where my audio tracks all of a sudden skips a second and usually that happens if i get an incoming call (mobile incident)

sometimes it would skip seconds when its kept on repeat (pc)

I guess it could've happened multiple times, if removing this "malware" fixed it then great, but keep on eye on your chair OP, it might be up to something. . .

Well it did it again today, this time when I walked out the door of my PC room and the floor creaked. I'm at a loss lol

 

It must be my DAC, it's a chinese DAC, an expensive one but still........ I don't know how this is happening because I've shook my chair around and bumped it on the desk nothing.  Putting the floor creak together with the chair thing, there is a creak under my chair too.  But there's no way that's causing a problem.  Maybe it's a certain vibration from the floor, I really don't know, it's crazy.  It spiked my paranoia over the weekend though.

AHAH! I got it to do it with testing, the wheel's on my chair left the ground and bounced down.  It must be some odd combination of a loose wire sitting in the the right/wrong position somewhere.  Don't know if it's power, data, or audio cable but it's something.  This weekend I should pull my desk apart and redo all the wires, my desk is a mess anyways.

Have you tried different speakers to see if anything similar happens?
