Hello,

As I'm slowly but surely scraping together parts for my first watercooling build using Barrows WaterWay in a Lian Li O11, which ironically LinusTechTips latest video featured this.

When Barrow released these WaterWay blocks for some cases, they also released the pump SPB 17-T Plus to use with these blocks.

Me being skeptical to Chinese electronics, wonder if it's possible to mount a D5 pump to the block using only a fitting, using this inlet or do I need the specific DDC pump from Barrow?

Would this work or would the pump cause too much vibration/other side effects?

Thanks in advance.

cant speak to vibration or what not,  but,

you would deff need a MOD-top for a D5 inorder to use a male-male  adapter.

The mono-mobo block thing you talk of i saw, and looked cool, but i dont know if a mod top that would work for a D5 would work the same as a modded DDC top.

bit of noise

been pretty silent since ive had them mounted like this

Granted i totally agree with you on a 'normal' style D5 mounting system.   even with that foam pad they included  never felt secure enough, probably inherent to the attempt to keep  case weight down and use of thinner steel or alu

dont mount your D5 upside down dude, they will die fast....

Will you accept instructions direct from the people who make the pumps?

sure, if you look at all the pictures you see a native housing, sure think Koolance took that into consideration with their design.  I will accept their Design of the dual loop capable dual res 5.25 combo unit.

since thats how its meant to be installed, and since the water level in the res is higher than the impeller it will bleed if kept primed.

Since i have have no issues, and they actually run more quietly than mounted in a native house on foam...  And if i turned it upside down to dissuade your fears then  all the ports on the front/top would become useless.

Perhaps inquire the part i use before fearmongering bad info ( that doesn't apply to me),   All intensive purpose's though thanks for the warning.  But ill stick to the way i have them

Ah fair enough. Noted.

So bottom line is that it would be unwise to mount a D5 pump only using the fitting and no bracket.

I also thought of mounting it on top of the bottom radiator, but as shown on the mounting instructions you linked, that would not work.

its always a better idea to have Inlet of the pump connected to Reservoir  that way it can stay primed easily when you fill up the system, hopefully res have a top fill port.

a pump right after the rad may work, but most people will recommend against it

Ah, I may have not given a proper explanation on what I meant.

As shown below the space around the radiator inlet is very close to the glass panels and I'm afraid that the D5 pump w/top won't fit, unless I use some kind of rotary fitting and an plexi extender to fully support the weight of the pump.

looks like it was designed for a DDC style pump,

while you might be able to make it work with a  D5 pump

if highly unlikely that even a mod top will work just the same a DDC top.

if you are dead set on the D5 you  will likely have to run additional tube a angle fittings, and in that case not sure where you would put it.

out comes from the center, and i agree with you doesnt look like enough room at the front there, the motor would be over a fan
