I just noticed my GPU (GTX 1080) is stuttering regularly, and hard too. I noticed it while gaming at 80-100+ fps, and the screen basically freezes for like 5-10 frames every second or so. It's incredibly jarring, and I can even notice it just on the desktop even when not gaming, just in mouse movement and when watching videos. Does anyone know what could be causing this? I'm on the latest 416.34 driver.

Okay, I've set it to prefer max performance and am about to try that out. My main monitor is a G-Sync. Will changing the max # of pre-rendered frames affect that?

I also have been experiencing a graphical issue with one of my monitors . I've restarted my PC and left that monitor unplugged, so I'll see if that affects this issue as well

Its known to fix stuttering. We also need to see temperature monitoring on the graph also.

Yeah, I should've included that in my screenshot as well. But they were hovering in the 65-70 zone, just dropping slightly along with the stutters, as expected

Well no pics of the system in use, all we can do is guess.

Alright, here's my usage graph while playing. The drop at the end is just from exiting the game, and the fluctuations were just normal utilization as the game changed. There was no stuttering after changing that power management mode setting, but I've also unplugged the monitor that's been giving me issues. I'm gonna plug the monitor back in and restart and will see if I still don't have the stuttering issue

Try an old driver. Still need the system usage. Hard drives and such.

having the same problem, I tried TrigrH posted, but to no avail. Made this account just to find answers for my GPU stuttering.

i7-4790k & GTX 960.

GPU temps are always under 60 C

100% usage, but drops, similar to the original post's picture

CPU usage around 50%, so GPU might be bottlenecking the CPU..? (if so how can I fix it without buying a new GPU)

I'm just trying to play Monster hunter world at 60fps on medium : (

Could try an older driver as nothing was said about that. Performing a clean install.

You say everything is performing as it should be but yet there’s an issue. Something would show if it was hardware if not it’s software.

For now, I haven't had the stuttering problem since changing that Nvidia control panel setting. If the stuttering comes back, I'll try an older Nvidia driver. But my issues all seem to be directly tied to this monitor problem I've been having, as best I can tell. I'm getting a new M.2 NVMe SSD soon and will probably do a clean install of Windows then. I'll post an update comment then whether I'm still having the issues or if that fixes them
