Hello everyone,

im in search for a new GPU and i hope someone can help me to decide which i should buy.

I currently have 3 favorites:

-EVGA 2070 XC Black - 540,90€ - currently unavailable in Germany

-Gigabyte GTX 1080 Windforce OC - 505,99€

-Sapphire Radeon Vega 64 Nitro+ - 479,00€ + 3 Games

Also found a used MSI 1080 for 455€ near me. I dont like to buy used GPU's but i can test it myself before i buy it and it has 1 year warranty left.

I plan to buy a 1440p Display next Year and most of them with 144Hz also support Freesync.

Here is my current system:

-MSI GTX 970

-Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.8GHz

-16Gb 3200MHz RAM

-MSI B350 PC Mate

-530 Watt be quiet pure power L8

The RTX 2070 is the best of the bench, but not by much, it just edges out the GTX 1080. I actually am planning on getting an used 1080 myself, but my monitor specs are much different and require a lot lower GPU power. Vega 64 would have the advantage of FreeSync support, so I would recommend you looking at the performance of the 1080 and Vega 64 in the games you plan on playing an 1440p (I recommend Gamers Nexus' reviews), because I honestly don't think any of these will be capable of delivering even medium/high settings at 1440p@144Hz, so FreeSync will be REALLY important if you can't keep 100fps+, and as a bonus, it's price is the best of the bunch (used 1080 aside) and comes with good games.

Given that any of these GPUs and your CPU will struggle to keep over 100fps+ in AAA games with good quality settings at 1440p, I would actually go with the Vega 64, but this GPU almost requires you to undervolt it since it gets you a huge improvement, so it's gonna be pretty good if you don't mind this extra work.

Thanks for your reply.

I dont actually need 144Hz in AAA games but for CSGO or competitive shooters in general i dont want to miss that.

I also think the Vega is the best from the ones currently available for me and i dont mind the extra work. But i think i have to upgrade my PSU for that and people from a german forum also told me to do so when i go for the Vega.

Do you think the used 1080 would maybe better when i can get it for say like 400€ ?
