Is it safe to control a 4-pin fan with a 2-pin header as used in the Corsair 600t built in fan controller? I'm concerned about damaging either the header or fan itself and can't seem to find any information myself. Thanks in advance and sorry if it's a stupid question.

It should be fine, the extra cords are for pwm and controling the fan over the motherboard I think

Yes it is fine. A 4 pin fan is specifically a PWM. IIRC, pin 1 and 2 are power, pin 3 is fan RPM (fan reports this to the motherboard) and the 4th is for PWM. So, as long as pin 1 and 2 are connected, the fan will have power, the rest are just additional things that are additional benefits, but not nessesary.
