So I have an opportunity to upgrade my GPU and want to make sure my mb will be OK to run it. Currently have a gigabyte ga ab350m ds2 board and a gtx 1060 6gb. Looking at a gtx 1070ti but have seen information that they require 2 pcie slots. Current board has

  • 2 x PCIe x1 v2.0
  • 1 x PCIe x16 v3.0.

Not looking at 1080 GPU as will likely never afford high refresh rate 4k display so extra power would be wasted. Will only ever game at 2k

ah that makes sense. thank you. so if the motherboard is ok what else should i check before buying a new GPU. the obvious ones being physical space in the case and that my power supply can handle the new card. anything else to consider?

Nope, as long as your cpu doesn’t cause it to bottleneck you should be fine

so i have an integrator 500W 80plus bronze PSU. should i be good to go with this one?

also i understand the 1070ti needs an 8-pin power connector. my current gpu is 6pin but the cable has 2 extra ones hanging off the side. i assume this is the 6+2 power connector i have heard about. will that be sufficient?
