Steam question

I want to do reset/format/clean installation of windows 10. the main c drive will be formated of course but steam games are installed in another drive d:. my question is if I installed fresh steam on fresh windows 10 would steam app detect the games again? or do I have to use the backup feature in steam and then restore the games after installing freah windows?

you just need to add the old library folder after your install

Steam will find them when you set the Steam Library in settings to that folder location.  Easy peasy.

 

Settings > Downloads > Content Libraries

then what is the backup and restore feature for? so if I have multiple internal hdd or ssd I don't need to use them (backup and restore feature) right?

No, don't need to use them.  In my sig, the 860 EVO 1tb is my steam library drive, I do the same as you.  I had it on another drive, bought that, then moved it.  Cake.

 

I don't know the backup system for Steam but may be to an external drive if you only have 1 drive and are going to replace it, not sure never used.

ok thanks I will format my system tomorrow by the way should I use driver booster 6 to update all the drivers or just leave it to windows 10 update? I had enough errors haha

I used one of those aftermarket programs for drivers (DriverMax I think) and it seemed to always have something to update, making me nervous.  Plus paying for it, or getting ads, blah.  I did;t like it.

 

Just do Windows 10 updating for all that main stuff.

Some games doesn't have sound effects at al why?
