Why lga 775 dual core chips have "E" in their name?

Hi! I've had some fun lately with lga 775 chips (1.5 vcore kind of fun). Why dual core cpus have E in their name? Q obviously stands for quad but what stands for E?

You can laugh now but the transition from P4 to Core 2 Duo was pretty huge in terms of efficiency as well as IPC.

 

It was the Core 2 series that dethroned Athlon remember.

Yup. Conroe and Sandy Bridge are intels best releases in the last 20 years.

55W and below? But most Core2 Duos have TDP of 65W

They misread, it says "Desktop energy efficient dual-core processors with TDP greater than or equal to 55 W".
