when I used it to watch video on youtube the connection is fine, even when I turn the video quality to 1080p. no buffering at all.

but when I used it to watch online videos on websites other than youtube its just buffering all the time.

I wonder how is that happen?

I think my modem is fine.

apparantly the problem only occur in certain websites.

I've just tried a different website with the same contents and the video running just fine.

no buffering.

I wonder what makes it like that?

is it the problem with the website or my connection?

There are serval things about the internet that can help you understand why this happens.

Youtube and other streaming sites uses servers to transcode and deliver the video to you. While websites just read them from a HTTP request. This can be your bottleneck.

Let's take a look at the diffrence on Youtube and Well any website..

Youtube or any tube sites for that matter uses RTMP streaming, this means that you just get all the heavy lifting done for you. Can you imagine if your computer would have to transcode everything you watched from youtube? That would be alot of wasted resources for your PC (Atleast if you have a more streamline computer that are best for email and reading news papers.)

When you Request videos from a website this file is simply stored on a webserver. Each time you play it off it will use your computer to transcode the video so you can watch it. Meaning it'll take more power for your computer to do this compared to what it would need to watch youtube.

A simple way to find out if this is the case is to check your CPU usage while you try to play the video, if your CPU usage is low it will be a streamed video. If your CPU usage is high, well perhaps the website you visit should invest in a streaming server.
