Hello everyone,

I'm planning to upgrade my PC slowly over the next 6 months or so.

I will start by telling you guys my current specs:

Case: Coolermaster K350

CPU:  AMD A6-6400K

GPU:  MSI Radeon R7 250-270 (dont know which one but maybe you huys can tell by the pic)

Storage: 500GB HDD (dont know the company for sure but i think thats it's WD

MOBO: ASUS A88XM-A (FM2+)

PSU: Corsair VS550

RAM: 2x4 DDR3 (dunno which brand but it's just a non fancy Green stick)

I also have an LG DVD reader and a card reader in there.

Future plans:

(these steps willl take how long they will because of budget)

1. Upgrade MOBO, CPU and RAM

MSI X470 Gaming Pro Carbon

G.Skill Trident Z RGB 2x8 DDR4-3000

AMD Ryzen 5 2600X

2. Upgrade Storage

Seagate barracuda 2TB

Crucial MX500 250TB

3. Upgrade GPU

GTX 1060 6g (or AMD Counterpart but i dont know which one that is)

4. upgrade Case and PSU

Coolermaster 650W (the cheapest one)

Coolermaster Masterboc Lite RGB / Sharkoon TG5 RGB

What do you all think? do i have things in the right order? what would you change?

Thanks in advance, Teun

you got a dusty pc.

Looks like a solid build. I'm not sure how ram prices are now, but trident z was way over priced a few months ago. You may want to look at other, similar kits before gunning for tridentz

yes i know my pc has a lot of dust, i think that it is because of my fans or something, the current case hase only 2 dust filters......

for the RAM, yes you are right they are more expensive then others, but i wanted some RGB in my Case that would be compatible with Mystic light sync

also, 3000Mhz RAM is expansive anyway so i dont think that €10-20 matters alot on top of €150+ if you are getting a nive looking product in return

I'm sorry if my english isnt the best but hey... at least I learned a second language :P

I've seen kits recently for around $125USD (not trident z)

However, Newegg is currently having a sale on Trident z 2x8gb 3200mhz for $154USD here for the next 15 hours

I think there will be good deals on black friday/cyber monday. There's no way of knowing right now what will go on sale though / or how long it will be available before it goes out of stock

I like to check newegg almost daily just to see what their deals are. You might find a couple steals there before black friday

I'd guess the rx580 8gb is the most similar to a 1060 6gb.  The rx is currently $230USD on newegg. I'd still say the 1060 is probably better for 1080p gaming

if you take price in mind, because i'm on a budget, which one do you prefer?

also, is the gtx 1060 6g better because of games being optimised?

and then, in a game like GTAV which is really DDR5 RAM Intensive would an 8GB AMD card perform betteR?

I don't know enough about each card to compare. You should check out some benchmarks. It looks like the 580 outperforms the 1060 in a lot of titles

I was just watching a Benchmark Video but thanks anyway, you see, the video you sent is someone overclocking their GPU to the max, if i would even overclock, i would play it safe and i also would liquid cool it

this is the video i was watching and the thing is, that in some games the rx580 performs better and in the other its the gtx.

so i dont think that for the few FPS more the gtx is worth it

(of course tell me if im wrong)

okay, I'm at work so i couldn't watch with audio. Didn't realize the cards were overclocked.

But i don't think you could go wrong with either card, so going with the most affordable card makes a lot of sense

just noticed that the rx580 has 2x hdmi and 2x dp instead of 3x dp and 1x hdmi

meaning that the connection possibilities are better for me there

Well lol I've definitely made my decision now... guess what ??

Here in the Netherlands (don't know about you) there is a free game bundle if you buy the rx580.

In included assassins creed origin and 2 other games with a total value of €150.

And the card is only €230

alright.... i was planning on getting the upgrade on black friday...

but i got this crazy idea: instead of an RX580 i'm going to buy the GTX 1070 (MSI ARMOR edition)

along with the r5 2600x, MSI X470 GAMING PRO CARBON (non AC) and 8x2GB of Trident z RGB RAM

after this, i'd do all the other parts mentioned in the first post in this topic.

do you think that the 1070 still has it's value now that the new rtx cards came out?

also, will my 550W PSU be enough for now? from what i saw myself it would.

yes, it will be close but i'll buy a psu upgrade once i have a little more money to spare.
