When I plug in my surface, it doesn't charge. The battery icon stays the same, there is no charging light. I don't think there is a problem with the battery because there is no warning on the battery icon to replace it and the tablet doesn't have to be plugged in to work. Any suggestions?

When you say there's no charging light, do you mean the plug / adapter does not show a charging indicator light? If so, the very first thing I'd try is another power adapter. Take your surface into a Microsoft Retail store (or BestBuy or Staples that has a Surface Tablet on display) and "borrow" their adapter for 10 seconds to see if it lights up.

If another adapter lights up, your adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced. If their adapter doesn't light up on your tablet, but does light up and charge the display model, I'd then look over Microsoft's full troubleshooting guide on Surface batteries not charging.

one would be checking it with some software if its even charging at all or just a little, two is more of a question, does windows say it's charging?
