Fix FPS Drops

Go to solution Solved by Spotty,

Yeah. CoD BO4 really needs more than 8GB of RAM. Upgrading to 16GB will help a lot in AAA games.

Hello,

So when I'm playing games I usually get 100+ FPS. But here and there it drops to 30 for a split second which then leads to me dying or raging lol.

I was wondering what part I should upgrade to fix this issue. RAM or CPU.

My CPU is a Ryzen 3 2200g, and I have 8gb's of RAM.

My graphics card is a 1060 6gb so it obviously cannot be this.

I am really wanting to know if I should get more RAM to fix the FPS drops or upgrade my CPU.

Thanks, Ben.

What games are you playing?
What settings in the game?
What monitor are you using?

It's most likely your RAM.

In very CPU intensive games this could be a problem since this isn't exactly a very powerful cpu. The lags you observe could be due to inconsistent frametime pacing

I plan on upgrading in the future. At the moment I'm going to buy RAM as it's affordable but I will be upgrading my CPU.

Also at least a 4770k or equivalent. I'd say that a Ryzen 3 is not equally powerful as a 4770k...

Honestly, it's probably not that far off. They're both 4c/8t CPUs with base clocks of 3.5GHz. Remember the 4770k is more than 5 years old now.

Looked up some benchmarks. An overclocked (3.9 Ghz) R3 1200 is only about on par with a 3770 non-k. So the 4770k will def. still be a lot faster.
