well.. looking at recommended system requirements, for the performance to be had out of a 1050ti, they aim for 30fps at 720p on lowest settings.

first google hit in terms of system reqyirements:

the GTX660 from the minimum requirements compared against your 1050ti:

Huh, I see people do benchmarks and they can do high settings 1080p with 30fps. Should I upgrade my pc?

people with a 1050ti, or people with an actually powerful GPU?

not that there's anything wrong inherently with a 1050ti, but it's just a given that it wont be amazing at 2018 triple-A titles.

Open up task manager and see what your system is doing in games. I'd wager the CPU is maxed out, you could probably get a ryzen 5 1600 as a decent upgrade, I'll bet there will be a good sale come cyber Monday.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

First Google-Fu I employed gave me a link to an article about Assassins Creed Odyssey being a Quad Core with no hyper threading killer.  Meaning its just not powerful enough of a CPU.  The CPU you have is quad core with no HT.

EDIT - yup I just read a few articles and looked at benches...not enough cores/threads for AC:O - in fact the lowest one they test with is a 1500x

^^^ Yep, IIRC the DRM they use devours CPU perf, it's not just the game eating your CPU. Something with more cores should be awesome (saw you were reccomended the R5 1600, I have one and it's pretty darn good). The 1050 Ti should be fine, they're awesome cards for the price and power consumption.

Depends on budget, etc  You have socket AM4 so any of the Ryzen lines will work in your setup most likely.

I have a Ryzen 7 1700 paired with a CRAP R7 260x.  And I eat games alive with it surprisingly so on a 2k monitor.  I mean, the only game I have had to turn down was BF1 to 1080p and that was GPU issues.

Yep. I also have an R7 2700X as well as the 1600 I mentioned earlier, and it's a beast as well. Bit higher IPC and clocks than the R7 1700, but very similar. Ryzen CPUs overall are pretty boss unless you need 144+fps.

If it were me:

I went from dual 1090t 4 core AMD CPU's to:

FX 8350 8c/t

Ryzen 7 1700 8c/16t

And I don't want to ever down core or thread anymore lol.
