GPU shroud

So, I have just recently bought an hp omen 870-224, and wanted to switch cases. I planned on getting an nzxt h500i, and the vertical mount, except theres a small problem where HP stuck a fan to the PCB and called it good. So, can I change the shroud on the gtx 1060 that comes with the computer?

not sure about what you're on about. All 1060s should have a cooling system on it, which in 99.999% of cases, includes a fan.

It does have a fan, but the fan is strapped onto a green PCB, and without a shroud onto so it's just a fan screwed onto a chipset

still no idea what you're describing.

 

This way. If the fan is directly mounted to the card (including its power cable), you can just move the whole assembly over to the new case no big deal. If it isnt and the card seperates from the fan (without one on itself), you'll need one of those aftermarket solutions, say Arctic's Accelero lineup. The 2 fan ones should be more than good enough.

hmm I think you may be a bit confused.

Not all GPUs are blower style fans.

Some are open air fans that usually come in three variations, single, double and triple fan configuration.

 

If you are insinuating that your gpu is a blower style fan and it is indeed missing a shroud, then you will need to get one. But this seems like a highly unlikely scenario.

I am guessing that you have an open air cooler and that's how it is supposed to look. HP is far too lazy to dismantle the shroud from a blower style fan just to cripple your GPU performance through thermal throttling.
