So I'm getting a 256 GB SSD for my PC tomorrow and just want to make sure my setup plan is OK. My PC currently has a 1TB HDD with around 400 GB used. Here is my plan:

  • Put SSD in PC
  • Run MiniTool Partition Wizard and move OS onto new SSD
  • Update BIOS Settings if needed
  • Move program files over from HDD to SSD that I want to be fast (idk how to do this properly)

Is this an OK plan?

Yeah definitely don't do that. Use some cloning software and move your OS over to the ssd.

Probaly not. Doing this kind of thing can easily corrupt the Operating system. Do you have windows 7 8 8.1 or 10? Or Linux?

Nope. That's the main issue I'm trying to get around. This parition software seems to work well for most.

What "cloning software" do you recommend? The partition software I mentioned doesn't clone, it moves (which I want. I don't want to move everything over because I don't have the room)
