Graphics error in windows

The issue seems to be related to intel drivers on windows 10 1803 ( some sort of incompatiblility, windows 10 1709 with intel driver from windows update doesn’t make the pop up ) disabling intel hd graphics makes the error disappear. Not too sure if I can make both movie maker and PowerPoint tuning off the Nvidia gpu, as far as I can recall, the movie maker have the Nvidia gpu option unavailable/ grayed out but with time the options may change. Will try to verify tomorrow

just did that, I found out more application that apparently affected by this GPU issue 

 

instagram and facebook won't launch at all

 

changing the GPU settings doesn't make them launch but makes them crash with movie maker and powerpoint giving the error message

 

update: Moviemaker apparently doesn't support changing the GPU( only supports iGPU) Powerpoint crashes when I set it to run with Nvidia GPU

Well if that is true then your GPU works. have you tried to use windows 7 or 8.1?

My laptop doesn’t come with windows 7 but it comes preloaded with windows 8 

 

on windows 8.1 it depends on the driver used , the driver downloaded from intel website will cause that error again, using the driver downloaded from Asus website it works as it should.

 

on windows 10 I’ve verified that using the intel driver from windows update works properly till version 1709 but not the current version 1803. 

 

 

On windows 10 1809( pulled update)

Upgrading from windows 8.1 will result in warning message (version 1803 doesn’t have the message)

 

 

For the nvidia driver,

The latest driver won’t install on both 8.1 and 10(downloaded from nvidia)

The  391.35 driver works in windows 10 but not 8.1. The nvidia driver downloaded from the ASUS website works on 8.1
