My setup:

3770k

Rampage 5 formula

16gb trident x ram

Corsair h100i

Nzxt phantom 820 case

1200w antec Psu

2x gtx780

3x 1080p monitors

Ok I'm trying to overclock my CPU and I'm using prime95 as my stress test.

For the last few months I have been running CPU at 4.5ghz and 1.245v and never hit over 90deg.

Last week my computer crashes a few times during bf4 so I reset my overclock.

So first off my idle temps are hovering at 50deg

When I run small fft @4.4Ghz 1.25v I get temps of 90-100degs within first few mins.

Even during bf4 at at the setting temps hit 90deg.

This is very weird and the only thing I can think of is that I damaged my chip.

One thing I was wondering is that since it's summer here does ambient temp make idle temps run higher ? And do I need to reseat my cooler?

Thanks in advance

No such thing as the Rampage V exists, I take it you mean Maximus V Formula. As for your temperatures the ambient temperature does affect both idle and load temperatures. What is your ambient temperature? What temps do you get with stock clocks? What TIM are you using?

Ahh maybe. I just checked on corsair link and it has 2156 on the pump icon. Could that be a false reading. And the h100i temp goes up to 55degrees in during prime95. Not sure if that is relevant. il contact corsair and see if I can get a replacement anyway
