Display system for PC corner

Should I just use a standard Ryzen 2700 or go order a Threadripper X or a i9 9900X I mean no one is going to see the cpu unless I keep CPU z open

Im building a display system in the PC corner in my uncle's hardware shop as I do builds for people

I was wondering should I go order a intel 9900X or a threadripper or just go with a 2700 which I have in stock

Honestly I don't think they would core if it's not a Core i9 or something. As long as it performs well in the games being demoed (if you're going to have any available) and the build looks clean and nicely done.

do a build with gaming-oriented parts(i.e 8700k etc) instead of things like threadripper because usually showing off high fps would attract more interest than high cinebench scores to a guy who doesn’t know too much about computers

Aren't they the same? The faster the cine bench finishes the higher the fps right?

Not necessarily. Many games are only optimized to use 4-8 cores, whereas cinebench uses all cores. So single core performance is usually what determines fps in games. Usually CPUs with high core count like xeons and threadrippers have lower single core performance than a i7 or ryzen 7.(i9s have similar single core performance to an i7-8700k, but are slightly weaker). So right now, the best gaming cpu on the market is the i7-8700k, followed by the ryzen 7 2700x and the i5-8400. as they all have strong single core performance.

Not when games can't use all 32 cores, and 24/32 sit idle. The trade-off with more cores is lower CPU frequency, to keep the rated TDP down, resulting in lower FPS.

 

i9-7980XE has a base clock of 2.6GHz.

That won't give you much FPS in games, running at stock.
