I just bought this and it says 100/155? I don't get it

yes it could be the router or the computer port only supports 150Mb it happens in older computers

argh gotta call the isp then. so i assume the cable is cable of handling gigabit connection?

If you have another cable you could try that is rated for gigabit you could try it. You might also have like a router or something that doesn't support more than 100mbps. The cable not going over 100mbps would be unlikely because no cat5e cable would have any kind of limiting in it...

How about an STP cable, those should be able to push gigabit speeds, UTP is unlikely.

200Mbps designated by the ISP is only in theory. In reality you won't always get that speed. The cable has nothing to do with it, however it should be able to handle a 1Gbps connection with that short distance.

You don't need STP to achieve gigabit speeds. UTP is fine, it's whats most commonly used.
