internet issues

Ok, so, my home network seems to be flipping out. Only certain websites seems to load, and even then it's extremely slow. For example, big websites such as google, reddit, and facebook, they all load, albeit slowly, but small websites, such as links from reddit, don't load. Using command prompt I can ping every website and get a response, but the response from websites that don't load are around 300ms while the websites that do load are around 30-50ms.

 

Some things that make me think that it's the network and not my computer include

- it happens on all devices, phones, tablets, laptops, desktops.

 

I've already tried to remedy the problem but nothing that I have tried has worked (hence I'm posting here). Seems really weird to me that I can ping websites without any problems but loading them is an issue.

 

Stuff that i have tried to do

- reset my router

- tried changing dns settings (used google and my ISP) on my router and my computer

 

Any help would be much appreciated.

Sounds like the service you're receiving isn't great.

• Who do you go through?
• What technology are you serviced through ADSL, VDSL, Fiber, Cable, Wireless?
• What speeds do you get - test via. http://www.speedtest.net/
• What speeds does your ISP estimate you should get?

It sounds like your ISP is dropping some packets there but to be sure can you check your blacklist on the router to see if the sites youve listed are on there? and like the poster above me suggested, use speedtest to see if your line is getting fritz because you may need to call your provider to fix the issue.

was definitely router related, after connecting directly to the modem everything worked fine. just turned off my router overnight and tried again in the morning and everything seems to be working okay now, nothing interesting to say about it really.
