GPU Upgrade Recommendation

Hi Folks!

I have a 7-year-old Alienware Aurora R2 with an i7 860 and an AMD HD5870. I've been pleasantly surprised how well the system has avoided obsolescence, however it could definitely use a GPU upgrade. I only play a few demanding games (Subnautica, for example), and my 1080p monitor is fine to my eyes at my viewing distance. 

 

What card would you recommend I upgrade to that supports DX12? I don't need 4K and would prefer not to bottleneck my CPU.
