I keep getting "disc read error" when I turn on my computer. i am having this problem as of last night. I tried disconnecting the hard drive and starting from my ssd but it did not work. I was able to get to in to the bios an hour ago but now when i restart my computer it wont go into the bios even after I press f12, delete, any of them. I unplugged and plugged the sata cables back in to no avail. When the computer starts I get the normal beep  but that is it.  I was trying o work with the boot order but I cant access that any more in the bios - nor I wasn't sure if i as doing it right.

I am still quite new to computers so any help would be appreciated.

Thank you !

Do you have any USB drives or any kind of external devices plugged in? That might affect the boot sequence.

If you have ram in a dual channel (or more) configuration, try using a single stick of ram while using each stick in single channel only.

And also, if possible try to reset the BIOS settings.

Sounds to me like a bad drive. I would see about getting a spare drive, installing windows and see if you access the data that way. If not, it may be off to data recovery. Though, if it is the SSD that can be rather expensive depeneding on the issue.

Be sure to @Pickles von Brine if you want me to see your reply!
