Before i explain the issue, i want to say I've been working with computers for a long time, building them, repairing them and upgrading them, i have tried everything with this and double checked everything, taken everything out and rebuild it eliminating every component.

Recently bought an i5-2500 for €20 from Cex, placed it into my machine and now everytime i boot, i get a black screen, no bios no nothing, machine turns on fine, all fans run and spin, everything, board supports it too from what ive read, bios is updated fully. Its rare i need to come to a forum but you guys are my only hope<3

Its a HP machine cause i sold my main PC till i can afford another.

I can swap out my CPU back to my old pentium g620 and it works fine which leads me to believe its the i5 being faulty.

Specs: (hp p6 2010-uk PC but ive replaced a lot, except motherboard)

Motherboard: H-Cupertino2-H61-uA (Cupertino 2) bios rev - 7.16A

PSU(500w chieftec)

Ram - 1x4GB corsair

Cpu - i5 2500 (originally pentium G620)

Graphics card: AMD HD6870

Ive cleared bios and everything, used jumpers and left the battery out... im going insane, please help.

I mean, if you're a specialist and you can't get it to work with the i5, the i5 might be busted. Of course, that's testable if you get your hands on another 1155 board

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

I have thought of that, low budget at the minute though, ill be upgrading to an i7-4790K soon anyway but, i thought I'd ask in case i missed something simple, i think it is busted but hoping I'm being an idiot and missing something simple! If not ill return it tomorrow!

It also makes no sense that im not getting beep codes! I do however, need to try onboard graphics but im in college and my workshop's at home so only have HDMI! Cant see it being that though, tried multiple monitors also! Just want to stop the bottleneck so i can play fortnite ha

Found a monitor and VGA card lying around in my college house, one of the lads had! Managed to get a display and now cant get the dedicated Hd 6870 to work, fans spin and all, no option in proprietary HP bios options to change from Igpu to dedicated tho! Technically got this resolved now so i can work on the rest myself! Thanks guys!
