Your CPU is super old. Grab a ryzen processor if it's in budget (or find a sweet deal for a used core i5 or something)

With a modern CPU comes a new motherboard and ram. Use pcpartpicker.com to make a parts list so you can share it and ask what we think.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

Side note: upgrading to an SSD with windows 10 is a good idea, I agree with the website.

Already have a Corsair H60 Water Cooler (i Plan to OC) and a 500W EVGA PSU. I also have an adapter for a laptop SSD to desktop (I have a Kingston 256GB SSD M.2).

however, idk how to deal with the compatability issue

So a few notes:

You can't overclock with an a320 motherboard

Your incompatibility is due to the fact that most first gen ryzen boards (a320, b350, x370) needed an update to run second gen ryzen CPUs. If yours arrives needing a BIOS update, AMD will ship you a free boot kit to fix this. You can ask on the forums for help from there (but I personally feel like Google can help more)

You don't need a "laptop to desktop" converter for an SSD if you get a motherboard  with an m.2 slot on it, I though it'll be standard with most b350 and up boards, which is what you should get.

Try this.

The i3 setup will be a bit more:

Picking the absolute bottom of the barrel parts was a little worse than 2 options up, so I selected that

Both motherboards have an m.2 slot so the SSD you have can be inserted directly into the motherboard, above the slot for the graphics card

What's your budget for the whole upgrade?

Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.9 Ghz  | Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 |  PaliT GTX 1050Ti  |  8gb Kingston HyperX Fury @ 2933 Mhz  |  Corsair CX550m  |  1 TB WD Blue HDD

Inside some old case I found lying around.

Oof, doesn't look like room for the i3 build then, but IMO if you save up, it's worth it because you can upgrade to an i5 8400 or something in the future later

A very good idea. As soon as I see the WIndows logo it takes 6 seconds for desktop to show up.  :)  But then it has to load the startup stuff sighs,,
