Is Non EEC mem compatible with EEC Mobo?

Go to solution Solved by Zagna,

Considering that i7-3960X doesn't support ECC so you can only use regular ram.

Now I recently got a good deal for a i7 3960x cpu (considering the prices for pc parts in my area), but the only MATX motherboard LGA2011 mobo which I can afford says on its spec sheet that it uses eec ram, my question is, can I use regular ram with a eec ram motherboard?

Yeah everything should work fine as long as you use regular ram. Not ecc. Everything by intel that isn't a Xeon is non-ecc. You could put a Xeon in there and use ECC.

Non-ecc ram will fit in a ECC board, just took some out of a supermicro X8DAH-+F to replace with 48gb of ECC.

Well the only “reliable” motherboard I can buy in Malaysia is the huanan x79 E5 3.5B (at a reasonable price (The price of a b450 mobo))

Looking at a random spec sheet for it, the ECC support is for Xeon E5v1 and E5v2.
