changing the file system

Go to solution Solved by byshy,

I've found the solution ! for any one that is still facing this problem, regarding to the boot issue : this is because the HDD inside the caddy had a windows 10 copy in it, and my bios cant let me rearrange the boot order so I completely wiped it and it worked.

regarding to the file system : its true, you should make sure that bot of them are having the same one (NTFS in my situation), this could be accomplished on the disk with the OS on it by reinstalling a new version of windows with this file system on it, or you can keep it as it is and reformat the external one with the file system that your OS is on.

NOTE : after all of this the hard drive in the caddy didn't show up until I flipped a switch in the caddy that I didn't know any thing about, this switch could be found on the top of the left side of the caddy if you are holding it with the drive facing you and the connector is up.
happy storaging ?

Hi there,

I've posted a while ago about a problem that I had when trying to have an SSD + HDD combo in my laptop (cant have them both up and running at the same time and getting an error message that says cant read from hard drive when booting windows), after digging in the internet for a while I found a solution that says maybe the file system is different between the two drives, after small research I found that changing the file system is pretty easy, now my question is : if my SSD has only one partition which is also the same one that has the OS on it, what will happen if I change the file system ? because in the process every thing will be wiped … and even if it had two partitions, how will I convert the one with the OS on it ?

Thanks a lot ❤
