Updating Build

ImperfectSoul47

Hello Community,

Here is my current build:

https://pcpartpicker.com/b/2zXPxr

I plan on adding a M.2 NVMe SSD, a Blu-ray Writer, 6 3.5" hard drives, 2 2.5" drives (1 SSD and 1 HDD), and replacing the Define C with a Define R6 TG w/ USB-C.

Question 1, should I replace the 650W power supply with a bigger one? Or should I just get the Molex-to-SATA adapters? The current power supply only has 8 SATA connectors and 3 molex connectors. I need 11 SATA connectors (1 for the USB 3.0 PCIe adapter and 1 for the fan hub in the Define R6)

Question 2, the M.2 NVMe SSD will sit right under the GPU. Should I get a heatsink for it? I'm getting the WD Black 500 GB M.2 NVMe SSD.

Thanks!

Molex to SATA is fine, not nearly as janky as stuff like molex to PCIe.

SSD cells operate better when hot, but storage controllers operate better when cool. Basically an m.2 heat sink does nothing.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

I've seen anything from molex go completely apesh*t, so I wouldn't reccomend. Get a new power supply, it'll be worth it.

Also, the NVME heatsink won't do anything

i like trains 🙂
