(Sorry for bad title, wasn't sure what to call this)

So I was looking at San Disk SD Memory cards for my nintendo switch on amazon. However, i saw that they sell special sd cards just for the switch that cost twice the price. Are these worth getting or just a rip off?

Don't get the special ones. I got some random SanDisk 64 gig and it works fine.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I need?

Nintendo recommends you use a UHS-I MicroSD card with transfer speeds of 60-95MB/s. I would suggest one of these:

64GB: https://amzn.to/2xoutyw
128GB: https://amzn.to/2NgO1zw

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

32GB: https://amzn.to/2Oxp0wN (Wouldn't go with this one, write speeds are fairly poor on it.)
64GB: https://amzn.to/2xoutyw (I'd go with this one or the 128GB one)
128GB: https://amzn.to/2NgO1zw

the 64gb one has write speeds of up to 60MB/s...

newegg is cheaper anyways.

Write speeds aren't quite as important for playing (Not much will be written other than save files). It'll make a small different when installing games, but aside from that, the biggest factor storage wise is going to be the read speeds.

Also, for UHS-1 SD cards, the minimum write speed requirement is only 10MB/s. All the cards I suggested (except for the 32GB card) are UHS-3, which has a minimum write speed requirement of 30MB/s, which is more than what Nintendo specifies.

Here's the Amazon link for the one you listed. A few cents more, and no having to deal with Newegg's "wonderful" customer support if issue arises, along with free two-day shipping if OP has prime.

Newegg may not be cheaper depending on time of day or OP's location. Shopping around is always the best way to find the best price at time of purchase. And write speeds of those SanDisk cards are abysmal, as noted in the many Amazon reviews. There's a reason SanDisk doesn't list write speeds on the specifications for their cards... :S https://www.amazon.ca/SanDisk-Ultra-microSDXC-Adapter-SDSQUAR-128G-GN6MA/product-reviews/B073JYC4XM/?filterByKeyword=write+speeds

Regardless of write speeds (as @TheKDub also noted, at least for reading Switch games), I can't recommend SanDisk cards to anyone anymore as many devices, such as off-brand dash cams or IP cameras from china, are picky with them and sometimes will refuse to save files or straight up corrupt an entire card full of recordings. You can fix this by formatting the card of course, but that loses everything that's on it, so it's not worth the hassle.

Desktop: KiRaShi-Intel-2022 (i5-12600K, 5060 Ti) Mobile: Moto Razr 50 Ultra (Razr+ 2024) | 30GB CAN+US+MEX $30/month
Laptop: Lenovo Yoga 7i (16") 82UF0015US (i7-12700H, 16GB/2TB RAM/SSD, A370M GPU) Tablet: Lenovo Tab Plus (256GB)
Camera: Canon M6 Mark II | Canon Rebel T1i (500D) | Canon SX280 Music: Spotify Premium (CIRCA '08)

It really depends on what line and capacities of cards you're getting. SanDisk is decent when it comes to 64GB+ SD cards from the Extreme and Extreme Pro lines at least. Lower end cards are fairly poor though.

I personally have both Samsung and SanDisk (Micro)SD cards and haven't had any issues with them so far. My phone has a 64GB Samsung MicroSD card in it, and my camera has a SanDisk Extreme 64GB SDXC UHS-3 card.
