Welcome to the LTT forum.

If you didn't feel comfortable updating the driver, why did you start it in the first place?

He wanted to go through with it since his fortnite game while streaming it would freeze so we wanted to see if updating it would make it better

FYI were updating the Driver :)

If you mean right now, then alright. For future reference, if you don't feel like updating a GPU driver, then don't.

Also his pc still works pefectly fine after but is there anything we should

Just give the GPU a good workout (in your case, stream and play Fortnite) for a while, and if it doesn't freeze or crash with the new driver installed, then congratulations, you've updated your driver, and increased stability.

Is it specifically only during Fortnite?

My first piece of advice (since you already updated the GPU driver) would be to update the BIOS.

P.S, that RX 460 is holding back the 6700K.

I would say it's freezing because the RX 460 is not particularly powerful. Getting a used 570 would help greatly.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

...actually it's probably that. I attached that as a side note, while fasauceome here said that was the cause. Yeah, the 460 is way more suited to something like a Pentium or an i3. Try that first, actually.

Ok so the RX 460 is holding back the 6700k making it freeze so he should look into a better GPU

Yes, that's exactly what we're saying. Even over 3 years later, the 6700K is still a very powerful CPU that doesn't need replacing, especially for gaming.

What would be a good budget GPU? that can stream and play

The i7 is handling the streaming, so just get a used 980/970 from eBay for a decent price, or the 570 I mentioned above. Those should all be cheap.

He doesn't need something more powerful than a GTX 1070 or RX Vega 56. If he's going new, I'd recommend a GTX 1060 or RX 580. If used, like fasauceome said, GTX 970/980 is good too.

The 1050 TI beats out the 560 in almost every game.

buts its not much of an upgrade from a 460 which is basically a 560...

what is your budget?

what resolution?

for 1080p MAX settings, I would recommend at least a RX 580 or a GTX 1060 6gb. A 1070/1070ti/Vega 56 are for 1440p MAX or 1080p 100+ FPS MAX.
