Some backstory, I bought the HyperX Cloud Core headset a few years ago, I use it for both my school laptop and my desktop. On my desktop, the microphone works, but on my laptop, only the headphones work. The mic does not. This problem occurred a few months ago and I figured the mic just broke, so Kingston sent me out a new pair. Now they're having the same issue, the mic is not working and Windows 10 is not recognizing it.

My desktop at home is using the cable that splits the headphone and microphone. It came with the headset. But on my laptop, I do not have a microphone port, so I have only been using a single jack. This has worked fine in the past, it just all of a sudden stopped working.

I have tried the following:

  1. Windows Troubleshooting (does not find the microphone)
  2. Showing disabled devices in recording (the headphones do show up in playback, but the mic does not show in recordings)
  3. Windows Privacy > Microphone (It is not turned off)
  4. The mic is detachable, yes it is plugged in completely

Thanks for your help! I'm trying to use it for discord, but I cant if it doesn't show!

I am assuming that the plug is a usb splitter with a green audio port. you if uninstall the device via devices or device manager including the disabled or hidden ones for the mic and headset and replug into a different usb it should work again.

I've tried uninstalling the drivers for the headset, but it didn't seem to work

Not really, I don't know when that would even be as I just found out my mic wasnt working. I was in a call with someone when they said they could hear me scratching the desk, which meant that it was my laptop mic and it was picking it up. So I'm not sure when it exactly stopped. But it was working at one point
